# - 4764 Fluorite (daylight fluorescent)

$50.00

Widely considered the finest green fluorite in the world, fluorite sourced from the Rogerley mine in the UK is world renowned for its exquisite quality and unique daylight fluorescence. Although fluorite is often fluorescent under UV light, only Rogerley fluorites can fluoresce in response to the UV rays in sunlight; this is a truly unique effect unmatched by any other crystal. When exposed to sunlight, these stunning green crystals transform and fluoresce dark blue. Under a UV light, Rogerley fluorites display their high fluorescence by glowing an intense neon blue. Considerable variation is found in Rogerley fluorites, and specimens unearthed from different sections of the mine have notably different characteristics. So, each ‘pocket’ from which distinctive fluorites are uncovered, has been assigned a name to assist in differentiating between specimens. Rogerley fluorites are best known for their vibrant green colour, however some pockets of the mine have produced purple and yellow specimens. The most common additional mineral found in Rogerley fluorite specimens is galena. Other minerals which can be present include quartz, aragonite, calcite, and smithsonite.
